Pupils of the Dean School in the small field behind the school buildings in 1908. This was during the period that Alresford was very busy experiencing troop movements, with military camps all around the town, in the build up period prior to WW1. Presumably the young lads in the photograph, with their home made riffles, were parading and mimicking the troops with their “Maze Drill” celebration for Empire Day.
