NOT Alresford Carnival. This was summer of 1949. (Carnivals didn’t start until 1953, Coronation Year)! This fancy dress contest had something to do with Langtons House and the Alresford Annual Sheep Fair which was held in the field which is now the site of ‘Long Barn”. Photograph is believed to have been taken either in this field or in the grounds of Langtons House.
